Plot Overview
The film centers around Juan Oliver (played by Luis Tosar), a newly hired prison guard in a high-security Spanish prison. On his first day at work, a catastrophic event occurs: a riot breaks out in the prison. In the midst of the chaos, Juan is accidentally trapped inside the prison and is forced to blend in with the inmates to survive. To avoid being killed or discovered as a guard, Juan pretends to be an inmate.
During the riot, he is placed in Cell 211, where he has to adapt quickly to the brutal and dangerous world of the prisoners. Juan ends up forming an unexpected relationship with Malamadre (played by José Coronado), the leader of the prison’s most violent gang. Malamadre is an intelligent and manipulative man, and Juan is forced to navigate a delicate balance of power and deception in order to stay alive. As the situation intensifies, Juan must decide how far he is willing to go to protect himself while maintaining his cover.
The film dives deep into themes of survival, identity, and moral choices, as Juan is drawn further into the violent world of the prison while struggling with his conscience.
